Karnataka’s Semiconductor Investment Wave Continues to Build

Fresh commitments from Silectric Semiconductor and Applied Materials add to the state's growing chip ecosystem.

Karnataka’s semiconductor sector continues to attract fresh capital, with Zoho-backed Silectric Semiconductor committing ₹3,425 crore to the state and global equipment maker Applied Materials weighing a Bengaluru R&D facility that could draw up to $2 billion in investment. Both announcements build on the state’s long-standing position as a hub for chip design talent.

Industry estimates project Karnataka’s semiconductor equipment demand to grow at a compound annual rate of 9.5 percent between 2026 and 2032, underscoring the state’s continued relevance as India’s semiconductor ambitions scale up.
