Bengaluru: A team of specialist doctors at Medicover Hospital, Bengaluru, has successfully performed an advanced Minimally Invasive Radical Nephrectomy (Keyhole Radical Nephrectomy) on a 48-year-old woman suffering from Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) despite multiple complex medical conditions, giving her a new lease on life.
The patient had been suffering for several months from chronic hematuria (blood in urine), a neck swelling, high blood pressure, severe anemia, and persistent abdominal pain. Detailed investigations revealed a 7 cm tumour in the left kidney, which was diagnosed as Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer). She was also found to have several co-existing medical conditions, including Dilated Cardiomyopathy with reduced heart function, a right thyroid nodule, and adenomyosis of the uterus.
In the first stage of treatment, the patient’s blood pressure, anemia, and cardiac condition were stabilised. Following a comprehensive evaluation by a multidisciplinary team, including cardiologists, she was prepared for surgery. Under the leadership of Dr. Pramod S. and Dr. T. J. Pradeep Kumar, the surgical team successfully removed the affected kidney using advanced keyhole surgical technology.
The patient made an excellent recovery after surgery and was discharged from the hospital without any major complications.
Speaking on the occasion, the patient, Ms. Patchi Padmaja, said, “The doctors at Medicover Hospital gave me a new life. Today, I am standing here with my family because they saved my life. When we first came to the hospital, we were extremely frightened and were also facing financial difficulties. However, we trusted the reassurance given by the doctors and the hospital management, underwent the treatment, and today I am happy to be here before you.”
Commenting on the case, Dr. Pramod S., Urologist and Robotic Surgeon, said, “Blood in the urine, persistent pain in the back or abdomen, and unexplained weight loss should never be ignored. If kidney cancer is detected at an early stage, advanced keyhole or robotic surgery can provide safe treatment with excellent outcomes.”
Mr. Siddareddy, Regional director of Medicover Hospital, Bangalore said, “Medicover Hospital is committed to delivering comprehensive and effective treatment for even the most complex kidney cancer cases through advanced technology, an experienced team of specialists, and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.”
